Educational Attainment by State, 1977 to 2009 [Spread]
This Excel workbook summarizes data collected and reported by the Census Bureau on the number and proportion of each state's population age 25 and over that is at least a high school graduate and that has at least a Bachelor's degree from college.
The data from 1977 through 1987 are for the 15 largest states only. Beginning in 1989 data was reported for all 50 states plus the District of Columbia.

National School Lunch Program, State-Level Data, FY1993 - FY2009 [Spread]
These data provide annual, state-level data on participation by K-12 students in the the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National School Lunch Program.
School children approved for free lunches come from the lowest family income levels, and those approved for reduced price lunches come from somewhat high but sill low income families.These data are useful when measuring the number of children from low income families enrolled in K-12 education, and headed for higher education in each state. The data used in these tables were prepared by Jeffrey Derr and Anne Pauls, Child Nutrition Division, Food and Nutrition Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

State, Local and Federal Fiscal Support for Higher Education [Spread]
per $1000 of State Personal Income, FY1961 to FY2010
This large Excel spreadsheet combines the Grapevine data from Illinois State University on state tax fund appropriations for higher education, with state personal income data published by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.Data are reported for each state for each fiscal year from 1961 through 2010. These data illustrate the ebb and flow of state investment in higher education over the last three decades.

This Excel workbook summarizes data tabulated from the 1990, 1993, 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study. Data are reported on averages for family income, expected family contribution, costs of attendance, financial need, grant aid, loan aid, work-study aid, other financial aid, total aid, unmet financial need, student work/study burden, net price to family and net price to family as a percent of family income. Data are tabulated in quartiles of parental income for full-time, full-year, one institution undergraduate students. Data are also tabulated by institutional type and control: public 4-year, public 2-year, private 4-year, private less than 4-year and proprietary.

This Excel workbook summarizes data on high school graduation rates, college continuation rates, college participation rates, estimated bachelor's degree completion rates and estimated bachelor's degree attainment by age 24 by family income quartiles for each year from 1970 through 2008.
Original data were collected by Census Bureau and National Center for Education Statistics.

ACT National Graduation Rates, 1983 to 2009 [Spread]
This Excel spreadsheet compiles all of ACT's published annual reports on institutional graduation rates.
ACT collects these data on its annual Institutional Data Questionnaire and publishes them in a variety of publications including its annual ACT National Dropout and Graduation Rate Report. Rates are reported as means with standard deviations by institutional control, highest degree offered and admissions selectivity. With ACT's permission, we have compiled these annual reports into this spreadsheet for 5-year and 3-year graduation rates.
